The NHL will hold its draft draw -- a lottery to determine the order for the first 14 picks of the 2003 entry draft -- on April 7 in New York.

The draw will involve teams that do not qualify for the playoffs, or teams that acquired the first-round draft positions of those nonplayoff clubs.

The club with the fewest regular-season points will have the greatest chance -- 25% -- of winning the draw and will pick no lower than second in the draft, which will be held in Nashville on June 21.

Teams can’t move up more than four positions in the draft order. No club can move down more than one position as a result of the draw.
