Ongoing taunting between freshmen and sophomores escalated into an after-school fight this week involving some students at Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies in Reseda, officials said.
Three ninth-graders were arrested and one 10th-grader was treated at a hospital for minor injuries after being hit with a baseball bat, Principal Robert Weinberg said Friday.
The scuffle broke out Wednesday near the Erwin Street campus when a group of ninth-graders confronted the 16-year-old sophomore, Weinberg said. Police broke up the fight and arrested the ninth-graders, ages 14 and 15.
The school sent letters to parents, addressed the student body and made crisis counselors available to students.
