Country singer LeAnn Rimes and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy lead the list of entertainers for this year’s Ventura County Fair, which begins July 30.

Rimes, who won two Grammys in 1997 for her debut album “Blue,” followed that with a series of best-selling albums and hit singles. Her latest release is “Twisted Angel.” Rimes will perform for fairgoers at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 6.

This will be the third fair appearance for home-grown swing band Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, which plans to release a new CD, “Save My Soul,” in July. The group has appeared at the Super Bowl and the Orange Bowl, performed for President Clinton and was on an episode of “Ally McBeal.” Big Bad Voodoo Daddy performs at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 5.

Also on the fair roster this year are country singer Tracy Byrd, eclectic rocker Uncle Kracker, rock sister act Heart, the Supremes starring Mary Wilson and country band Lonestar. Performers for Fiesta night and the final Friday of the fair have yet to be announced.

While the entertainment is heavier on country this year, there is a good mix, spokesman Devlin Raley said.

“We’re very excited about having someone of LeAnn Rimes’ stature performing,” he said. “All in all, I look at the mix of entertainment that’s been booked so far, and all of them are well-known and strong.”

The fair, which attracted a record 292,394 people in 2002, will run from July 30 to Aug. 10, with motor sports offered the first two nights and a rodeo the final two days.

All entertainment is free with fair tickets, which are $7 for adults and $4 for children and seniors.
