From Times Wire Reports

Artifacts uncovered beneath downtown streets by utility crews are offering a glimpse into the past, but they could also drive up the cost of the city’s water and sewer line project by $250,000, or 16%.

Backhoes have unearthed Native American, Chinese American and Spanish artifacts.

The discovery surprised city officials, who are spending $1.6 million on the project.
