Detectives are investigating whether two drive-by shootings in Compton that left a 24-year-old man dead and three others wounded this weekend were related.

The fatal shooting occurred shortly before 1 a.m. Monday, when an assailant in a black, late-model Chevrolet Blazer fired shots into a home in the 1400 block of Caldwell Street, where a party was underway, killing the man and wounding a 13-year-old boy, according to Deputy Bill Spear of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The vehicle sped away, according to authorities.

The Sheriff’s Department did not release the dead man’s identity. The teenager was reported in stable condition at a local hospital. About three hours earlier, a 19-year-old man and a 24-year-old man were wounded by shots fired from a passing vehicle in the 100 block of Caldwell Street, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
