Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department investigators are asking the public’s help in finding two San Gabriel Valley men who disappeared a month ago.

“Edward” Haang Fung Chin, 25, of the unincorporated area of Arcadia, and “Alan” Cheuk Lun Cheung, 22, of Monterey Park were last heard from on the afternoon of Oct. 2 when they were in Rosemead, said Det. Diane Harris.

The case is being handled as a missing persons investigation because no evidence of foul play has been discovered. Family and friends told investigators that the men never mentioned plans to leave home.

“They could be anywhere,” Harris said. “Whether it’s Las Vegas, Mexico or they moved in with another girlfriend, so many different things could have happened.”

Chin and Cheung were both born in Hong Kong and immigrated to California when they were young children, said Konni Tou of San Gabriel, a mutual friend of the men.

She said the two men became good friends at San Gabriel High School, sharing a passion for basketball. More recently, Tou and Cheung were classmates at DeVry University in Pomona, studying telecommunications. She said Cheung wanted to open a business related to computer gaming.

“His parents are very worried,” Tou said. “His dad can’t concentrate on work.”

Chin last worked at a San Gabriel cafe. He lives with his father. His mother, brother and sister live in Hong Kong.

Anyone with information about the two men should call the sheriff’s missing persons detail at (323) 890-5500.
