3 Die After Car Jumps Guardrail on Freeway

From Times Staff Reports

Three men died early Sunday morning when the car they were driving in flipped over a guardrail on the Santa Ana Freeway in downtown and struck an oncoming vehicle, authorities said.

The Toyota Corolla was traveling south at about 85 mph when the driver failed to negotiate an S-type curve north of Vignes Street and jumped the guardrail, crashing into a Honda with two passengers.

The men in the Honda, both 21-year-old Santa Paula residents, were treated for minor injuries.

Pronounced dead at the scene were Migel Minasov, 29, and Aleksandr Cherkenbov, 27, both of Glendale, and Hagpo Savoian, 22, of Montebello.
