Activist Gets 40 Days in Jail for Resisting Arrest

An environmental activist convicted of resisting arrest during a logging protest in Freshwater has been sentenced to 40 days in Humboldt County Jail.
Naomi Wagner, an Earth First! activist, was sentenced Tuesday for locking herself in a redwood tree in March, forcing a Pacific Lumber Co. contract climber to bring her down.
The same jury that convicted Wagner of resisting arrest could not reach a verdict on a trespassing charge, which was later dropped.
Her sentence, minus three days for time served, was set to begin Nov. 30.
