King prospect Michael Cammalleri, who returned last week from a sprained knee that sidelined him for more than a month, has been sent down to the team’s minor league affiliate in Manchester, N.H.

Cammalleri played in two games since his return and did not score a point. He had a minus-two rating and averaged a little more than nine minutes of ice time.

“It’s just to get him into some games,” King Coach Andy Murray said. “He didn’t play at the end of last season and other than the first three preseason games, missed everything else [this season]. We just wanted to get him into some game action. He played pretty well when he was in there for us.”

Cammalleri, the Kings’ second-round selection in the 2001 draft, had a strong training camp until he was sidelined after taking a hip check in an exhibition against the San Jose Sharks.

He had five goals in 28 games last season but suffered a concussion in January at San Jose and sat out the rest of the season.

The Kings won’t see a familiar face in the other goal tonight. Backup Carolina goaltender Jamie Storr, the Kings’ No. 1 pick in 1994, won’t play. Storr, who was not re-signed by the Kings after last season, had an 85-78-21 record in nine seasons.

Storr is 0-1-1 with a 2.90 goals-against average for the Hurricanes.
