NoBar? Yes, it’s in NoHo

So NoHo’s getting jiggy tonight with the public opening of its latest hot spot, NoBar -- a new lounge brought to the Valley by Craig Trager, co-owner of Daddy’s and the Well in Hollywood. Just one more surefire sign that the Valley is arriving (well, and this issue’s cover story). Speaking of which, got an eyeful of that Valley girl Pink cruising down the aisles at warp speed at a Whole Foods on Sepulveda Boulevard. You go, girl.... In the “you didn’t hear this from me” category, methinks Green Day might be performing at the Key Club on Nov. 22. We hear the Bay Area boys are playing under the moniker Network, so line up early. And keep this on the down-low, but the Vandals are planning a surprise performance at the Key Club on Dec. 10 for the Warped Tour Battle of the Bands contest. Righteous....

Peas’ guest star a pop idol

While we’re on the subject of that Sunset Strip nightclub, fans of Justin Timberlake might want to check out the club’s Black-Eyed Peas show Dec. 18 cuz we hear the crooner’s gonna get on stage and belt out a number or two with the hip-hop crew.... Viper Room impresario Sal Jenco has been hosting a variety night on Wednesdays featuring ping-pong, burlesque bingo and punk-rock pillow fights. Such bands as Sign of the Fox and Mondo Generator (the side project of Nick Oliveri from Queens of the Stone Age) have been ripping it up there on Wednesdays. Last week, Brody Dalle from the Distillers and her boyfriend, Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age, were seen playing burlesque bingo, while vixens in French maid costumes worked the crowd. Ooh la la! ....

Weirdos frontman John Denney has much to celebrate at the band’s Dec. 5 El Rey Theatre show. Denney and his wife, who live in Lake Arrowhead, barely escaped the ravages of the recent brush fires. Their home’s siding was melted, the deck was singed and a window was blown out, but everything else was intact. Firefighters even left a note on their dining room table: “Congratulations! We fought the fire and won. We saved your house....” That’s a beautiful thing.... And speaking of the fires, promoter MacAfrica is inviting all her guests to bring canned goods and cash to give to the Salvation Army for a fire fund-raiser at her Industry Tuesday night at the Falls on Sunset Boulevard. Good deed, indeed.... The legendary art-punk band Rocket From the Tombs hits the Knitting Factory on Tuesday....And don’t miss tomorrow’s opening night of Goodfat, a new DJ-driven promotion taking place the second Friday of each month at the Pig ‘n Whistle on Hollywood Boulevard.... Also on Friday, the Sunset Room debuts Vanity, a new hip-hop and rock dance night featuring DJ Coolwhip....

‘Battle’ takes it to L.A.’s streets

We got a preview of “The Battle of L.A.,” a DVD documentary that chronicles L.A.’s street-level rap battles. Shot at the Green Club in Venice and the Poetry Lounge in Hollywood, “The Battle for L.A.” is the real deal....

Alrighty now, we’re off in search of the nearest Ticketmaster. The Red Hot Chili Peppers and System of a Down are playing the Palladium on Saturday. Ya heard?
