Atlanta Falcon quarterback Michael Vick did not practice Thursday and indicated he will not play Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.

Vick sprained his right ankle during a morning walkthrough Wednesday, when guard Martin Bibla accidentally stepped on his foot. Vick hasn’t played since breaking his leg during an exhibition game Aug. 16.

“I wanted to come out and try and play this week, get a couple of snaps,” Vick said. “But what happened yesterday was something that we all didn’t expect. I got a little taste of what it’s like to get it touched, and that’s a good thing. Now I know. We’ll just see how it plays out.”

Vick refused to offer details of how he was hurt, but linebacker Keith Brooking acknowledged that he was blitzing and accidentally pushed Bibla backward. Vick and Bibla were working with the scout team, and Brooking with the first-team defense.

“I can’t help it. That’s just the way it goes, man,” Brooking said.

Said Bibla: “Nobody’s going full-tilt, but Keith goes a little harder than usual sometimes. That’s just Keith, though.”

Washington Redskin quarterback Patrick Ramsey did not practice again Thursday, and he planned to “try a bunch of things” to get his ailing foot well enough to play Sunday night against the Miami Dolphins.

Ramsey has been bothered by a flare-up of a fracture in his right foot, an injury that needs rest and might require surgery. He was given a cortisone shot Monday and has been wearing a protective boot.

If Ramsey can’t play, Tim Hasselbeck will make his first NFL start. Hasselbeck would become the 15th quarterback to start for the Redskins in 11 seasons.

The Denver Broncos suspended Daryl Gardener for one game for conduct detrimental to the team, four months after the defensive tackle tore ligaments in his right wrist in an altercation outside a pancake house. He won’t play Sunday against the Chicago Bears.

A brief statement by the team did not specify what conduct prompted Gardener’s suspension, and a team spokesman declined to comment.

William Green’s fiancee pleaded innocent to charges she stabbed the Cleveland Brown running back at their home.

Green was wounded under his left shoulder blade during a fight Wednesday, police said. His lawyer, Brian Downey, said he was released from the hospital later that night after getting three stitches.

Asia Gray, who has two children with Green, was released from jail after posting $18,500 bond. Green was put under a temporary protection order, which means Gray cannot be within 500 yards of him.

The Arizona Cardinals upgraded Emmitt Smith to questionable for Sunday’s game against the St. Louis Rams after the NFL’s career rushing leader went through a second day of practice.

He has been sidelined since breaking his left shoulder blade against the Dallas Cowboys on Oct. 5. Thursday’s practice was his first in full pads since the injury.
