Suspect in 2 Riverside Killings Goes From Prison to Jail

On the brink of being released from state prison, a Compton man was arrested Friday by Riverside police for allegedly committing a double murder in June.

Phillip Oville, 24, was moved from the California Institution for Men in Chino to Riverside County Jail, where he was booked on two counts of first- degree murder and one count of burglary for his alleged role in the deaths of Katie Brennan, 15, and Michelle Robidoux, 26.

“We heard Oville’s name early on in this investigation, and he has been a prime suspect in this for quite some time,” said Riverside Police Sgt. Steve Johnson.

“Fortunately for us, he was arrested for a parole violation less than a month after the homicides, which allowed us time to build a case.”

Oville was arrested as he was being processed out of Chino.

Police said witness interviews and a review of evidence led them to Oville, adding that the motive for the burglary and murders appears to “revolve around narcotics activity.”

Brennan and Robidoux each were shot several times on the night of June 24.

If convicted of multiple murder, Oville could be face the death penalty. He is expected to be arraigned in Riverside County Superior Court on Tuesday.
