Trainer Michael Dickinson will have a chance to win graded turf stakes on opposite sides of the country today.

Before he sends out Bowman Mill in the $250,000 Hollywood Turf Cup at Hollywood Park, Dickinson is scheduled to run the 9-year-old Cetewayo in the $150,000 Red Smith Handicap at Aqueduct.

A Grade II at 1 3/8 miles, the Red Smith is the last turf stakes of the year in New York. Cetewayo will be trying to win it for the second time. He was successful three years ago, then finished last in his next appearance in 2001.

One for the road: Once Nice Cat stretches out and tries turf for the first time in more than a year in today’s fifth at Churchill Downs. The colt chased repeat winner Captain Thunder in his latest and will be making only his second start for trainer Ronny Werner.

Exotically speaking: A pick four using Macward, Motto, Cap Ferrat, Little Ghazi and Quake in the sixth, Charlotte Forver and Broadway Deb in the seventh, the Staging Post-Epicentre entry, Bowman Mill and Runaway Dancer in the eighth and Wild Wager in the ninth.
