Villanova Outruns Redlands
Allan Ray scored a game-high 38 points to lead Villanova past the University of Redlands, 114-103, Saturday at Redlands.
Ray also grabbed 11 rebounds for the Wildcats (2-0). Randy Foye added 25 points and 10 rebounds, and freshman Will Sheridan contributed 23 points and 17 rebounds.
The Bulldogs were led by Derek Flegal, who had a career-high 26 points.
Redlands, a Division III school, took a 50-49 halftime lead after hitting 13 three-point baskets in the first half. But Villanova outscored the Bulldogs, 65-53, in the second half. Redlands tied the score, 78-78, with less than 10 minutes to go, but that was the closest the team would come.
It was the first time the schools had met and the first time Redlands has played host to a Division I school.
