450 Pupils Relocated After Fire at School
More than 450 pupils were relocated Monday to nearby campuses after a four-alarm fire ripped through their elementary school over the weekend.
The Saturday night fire caused extensive damage at Gardner Elementary School, fire and school officials said. The school is fully insured.
The fire destroyed a library with more than 25,000 books, more than 100 computers, an administrative office and seven classrooms. Thirteen classrooms had smoke damage.
One of the 90 firefighters who fought the blaze suffered a stress-related injury and was treated and released from a local hospital.
Investigators are probing the cause of the fire.
