Man, 85, Charged in Alleged Child Sex Plan

An 85-year-old Garden Grove resident appeared in U.S. District Court on Monday to answer charges that he planned to travel to the Philippines to have sex with two girls, ages 9 and 12.
John W. Seljan, a retired businessman, was arrested Friday night at Los Angeles International Airport as he prepared to board a flight, authorities said.
Officials at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, which made the arrest, said Seljan had been tagged after a routine inspection of outbound foreign mail had turned up incriminating correspondence and parcels he was sending abroad.
