Fullerton Player Gets Jail Term

Share

Cal State Fullerton basketball player Ralphy Holmes was sentenced to 60 days in jail and three years’ probation after a plea bargain on charges of vehicle theft and hit-and-run after an incident May 2 near the campus.

In a pretrial hearing at North Orange County Justice Center, the district attorney’s office and Holmes’ attorney, Michael Meyer, agreed on a plea that reduced a felony theft charge to a misdemeanor, avoiding a trial.

Superior Court Judge Roger Robbins delayed sentencing until after the 2003-04 school year and ordered the player to pay restitution to the victim.

Holmes’ status with the team is clouded. He is on indefinite suspension but has appealed to have the suspension lifted.
