Riverside Girl Alleges Assault
A 14-year-old girl in Riverside was allegedly sexually assaulted last weekend at an off-campus high school party, authorities said Thursday.
A Riverside police spokesman said detectives are investigating more than one suspect, including students from Norte Vista High School, where the girl is a freshman.
Authorities learned of the incident Monday, after the girl told Norte Vista administrators. School officials are required to notify police or child protective services about possible abuse.
The teenager’s parents were also notified, and rape crisis counselors were called in, said Riverside Officer Felix Medina.
It is unclear whether the assault was related to a party after Friday night’s homecoming football game at Norte Vista, he said.
Paul Jessup, superintendent of the Alvord Unified School District, said the district is cooperating with police.
