Police Captain to Replace Chief
A longtime law enforcement officer has been named to succeed Fountain Valley Police Chief Elvin G. Miali, who will retire this month after 17 years, officials said Monday.
Paul Sorrell of Fountain Valley, a captain in the patrol division, will assume his new duties Oct. 31, said City Manager Raymond H. Kromer.
Sorrell began as a police officer with Fountain Valley in 1981 and rose through the ranks, serving as a patrol commander and spearheading a narcotics team and the SWAT team.
