A Los Angeles man was arrested Saturday after racing with another car and crashing, which killed one of his passengers, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Aaron DeGourville, 21, lost control of his 2003 Jaguar while racing a blue Porsche at “a high rate of speed” on the southbound Hollywood Freeway about 2:37 a.m., said CHP Officer Bruce Gaines.

DeGourville’s car left the freeway and hit a car parked at the Alameda offramp; the Jaguar became airborne and overturned, Gaines said.

His 18-year-old passenger died at County-USC Medical Center, but has not been identified pending notification of relatives, the CHP said. DeGourville was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter after police determined he may have been driving under the influence of alcohol.
