Boise St. Scores 77 Points

Ryan Dinwiddie threw five touchdown passes and ran for another score as Boise State routed San Jose State, 77-14, in a Western Athletic Conference game Saturday.

Boise State’s 77 points set a school record. The previous mark was 74 against Humboldt State in 1986.

Dinwiddie, who left the game after one series in the third quarter, completed 17 of 28 passes for 350 yards. The Broncos improved to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the WAC.

Two of Dinwiddie’s touchdown passes, a 27-yarder to T.J. Acree and a 44-yard toss to Derek Schouman, and one of two safeties registered by the Bronco special team accounted for a 16-point outburst in 1:23 in the second quarter as the Broncos raced to a 40-0 lead with 8:18 left in the half. Dinwiddie and Acree also combined for a 20-yard touchdown pass play later in the second quarter.

Dinwiddie passed for 279 yards in the first half and Boise outgained San Jose (2-5, 1-3) by almost 200 yards (340-144) in the first two quarters for a 47-7 halftime lead.
