Suspected Drunk Driver Injures 3 in Irvine Crash
Three people were injured, one critically, early Sunday when a man in a pickup truck ran a red light at an Irvine intersection and struck a sport utility vehicle packed with passengers, police said.
The pickup driver, Micaiah Hale, 29, of Moreno Valley, was treated for minor injuries and arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.
Eiji Hishida, 29, of San Francisco, a passenger in the SUV, was in guarded condition at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana following the 1:30 a.m. accident at Culver Drive and Barranca Parkway.
Two other passengers, Carla Bayne, 29, of Phoenix, and Jeffrey Smith, 31, of Scottsdale, Ariz., were in stable condition at UCI Medical Center in Orange.
