From Times Wire Reports

The son of a Berkeley landlord is scheduled to enter a guilty plea Friday as part of an agreement over his role in a scheme in which teenage girls from India were smuggled into the United States for sex and cheap labor, court records show.

Prasad Lakireddy, 44, of Lafayette had been expected to go to trial in January on charges -- first filed in 2000 -- that included witness tampering and conspiracy to bring immigrants into the United States illegally and to import immigrants for immoral purposes.

Lakireddy is the last defendant in the case. His father, brother, uncle and aunt all have accepted plea bargains and have been sentenced to prison.
