U.S. retailers including Target Corp. and Toys R Us Inc. expect the holiday season to be the best in four years as tax cuts and easing concern about unemployment spur an increase in spending.

Sales of toys, clothes, home furnishings and other general merchandise would increase 5.7% to $217.4 billion in November and December from the year-earlier period, the National Retail Federation said.
