Man Shoots Aunt, Cousin, Self, Police Say
A man shot his aunt to death, wounded a female cousin and then committed suicide in North University Park, police said Saturday.
The shooting at an apartment complex in the 1500 block of West 23rd Street was reported about 11:30 p.m. Friday, said Sgt. Daniel Ellerson of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Southwest station.
The man, described only as being in his early 30s, had argued with his 53-year-old aunt and a 31-year-old cousin, Ellerson said. He shot his aunt in the head and shot his cousin in the hip and abdomen, police said.
“He almost immediately turned the weapon on himself,” Ellerson said. The cousin is hospitalized in stable condition, police said.
The gunman died at a hospital.
