A man accused of stabbing his father during an argument jumped to his death Saturday from the sixth floor of the Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, authorities said.

Michael C. Kim, 33, was under police guard when he leaped out of bed, kicked out a window and jumped from his room about 5 a.m., landing on an employee patio, authorities said.

Kim was arrested Friday and charged with assault with a deadly weapon after police received a 911 call from a woman at the Hyde mobile home park, screaming that “someone was being killed,” police Sgt. Baltazar de la Riva said.

Officers found Kim and his father with wounds from an 8-inch kitchen knife. Kim was taken to Western Medical Center. His father, who was not identified by police, was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange.
