Water Rate Hike May Be Scaled Back

City Council members critical of a proposed 18% increase in Los Angeles water rates over two years said Tuesday they would support a smaller, one-year boost pending a financial review.
Councilmen Greig Smith and Tony Cardenas said they supported only part of the Department of Water and Power’s proposed rate hike.
DWP board President Dominick Rubalcava said the board probably would seek an 11% increase in water rates for one year, with the option of seeking additional changes later.
