Funds to Dredge Harbor Restored to U.S. Budget
From Times Wire Reports
More than $2 million for annual dredging of Santa Barbara Harbor was restored to the proposed federal budget.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers told the city that dredging costs were restored in President Bush’s proposed fiscal 2005 budget and that the agency would again perform the dredging to keep the harbor operating.
Mayor Marty Blum said that the dredging was the city’s highest federal funding priority and that restoration meant the city would not have to fight for the money in congressional committees.
