From Times Wire Reports

The San Diego Unified Port District will receive $2 million in federal grant money to improve security.

The money from the U.S. Transportation Security Administration will be used to add lighting, fencing and surveillance equipment at port locations, including the 10th Avenue Marine Terminal and the cruise ship terminal.

The grant is part of a $170-million national plan announced in December to protect the nation’s ports from terrorist attacks.
