Another Member of L.A. Airport Commission Resigns
Los Angeles Airport Commissioner Eileen N. Levine announced Monday she is resigning immediately from her city post.
Levine is the second person to resign from the Board of Airport Commissioners since federal and county investigators began probes into contracting at the airport and other city departments. Ted Stein stepped down as commission president April 6.
An Encino resident who is retired from the healthcare industry, Levine said the controversy involving contracting added to the stress of the commission job but was not a factor in her decision to quit.
Levine said her term was to expire June 30 and she wanted a new commissioner to be appointed in time to sit in on upcoming board hearings on the proposed modernization plan for Los Angeles International Airport.
Levine was appointed by the mayor to represent the area around Van Nuys Airport, which is owned by the city and run by the city airports department.
Mayor James K. Hahn could not be reached for comment on the resignation.
