Re “Drive-By Murder Pictures Might Be Worth 1,000 Lives,” Voices, July 31: Curt Bormann expressed an opinion I’ve held over a long period of time but for which I could not find an ear. It is hard for me to understand that in my own city of Los Angeles the death of so many of our young people is so nonchalantly accepted when we should be roaring with outrage.

City Council members should open all possible doors to efforts to cure drive-by shootings, this dreadful malady that destroys young lives and puts fear into our neighborhoods. The deaths of innocent bystanders, of young people whose lives are wasted, are as important as those lost in Iraq. Something must be done.
