Bolthouse makes 103.1 his nightclub

It’s not like Brent Bolthouse needed another job. But when Indie 103.1 (KDLD-FM) asked Hollywood’s de facto nightclub king if he wanted a DJ gig, he said, “Heck yeah.” Now he’s spinning oodles of the Cure, Radiohead and Weezer on Mondays from 10 p.m. to midnight. Upcoming guest DJs include Travis Barker from Blink-182 and the Transplants and actor Danny Masterson.... Young promoter Reggie Marshall has been on the scene for only four months, but he’s already making waves. His angle? By day, he works in Encino at the hip clothing boutique Body, where he chats up the lovely clientele and, by shift’s end, has recruited 40 or so women to help populate his dance clubs. He teamed up with promoter John Andrea to host Thursdays at White Lotus and Saturdays at the Lounge, both increasingly popular dance clubs. Tommy Lee and singer Ray-J are repeat customers. Credit goes to up-and-coming DJ Benny Black, who knows how to mix a party.... And this week’s bash to crash is the Punkture clothing launch party at Xes in Hollywood Friday night. Punkture is owned by Rebecca and Anthony Marciano, children of the Guess! fashion franchise. DJs include Poet Named Life (from the Black Eyed Peas) and Playboy centerfold Colleen Shannon. Ooh la-la.

Young bands play to a fun house

Last Wednesday’s teen punk party at C.I.A. in North Hollywood looked like a scene from “SubUrbia.” Teens and tweens came out to see such young bands as the Diffs and Issue 89 at the funky and very odd funhouse (an acronym for California Institute of Abnormalarts). Spotted were members of teen group Orange and their parents.... A pedicurist at Studio City’s Mibella hipped me to Adam Ho, a 15-year-old Vietnamese American guitarist who channels Hendrix and Santana. We checked him out, and he rocks. For info, check out www.adamho.com. ... Mata Hari, the cabaret-and-other-shenanigans night concocted by singer Abby Travis, returns to Tangiers on Wednesday night with “An Evening of Musical Espionage.” Last month’s show was a sellout.
