From Times Staff and Wire Reports

The family of a 20-year-old UCLA student who disappeared while commuting from Orange County to school said Monday they were doubling to $20,000 a reward for information leading to the student’s safe return.

The family of Ahmad Arain has hired a private investigator and posted calls for help on the Internet. Arain was traveling from his family’s home in Orange to meet with an academic advisor at UCLA on July 23 when he failed to show up for his appointment.

“We thought it would be a good idea to increase the reward, because there were no new developments,” said Sulaiman Arain, brother of the missing man.
