Former Norco Mayor’s Son Is Shot to Death

The son of a former Norco mayor was shot and killed Sunday in the La Sierra section of Riverside. Johnny Casper Jr. died at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Riverside after several shots were fired during a dispute in the 11200 block of Cypress Avenue. Casper’s father, John, served as Norco mayor in the late 1980s, a city official said.
The victim’s brother-in-law tried to intervene in the dispute and also was shot. He was in critical but stable condition Monday.
