With a smile
Imagine a newspaper without comic strips. Imagine beginning your day without that spark, that smile, that color that the comics bring you. Los Angeles Times readers haven’t had to face that dreary prospect for 100 years. On Aug. 21, 1904, The Times published its first continuing comic strip. Richard Outcault’s “Buster Brown” appeared that Sunday, accompanied by seven lesser-known strips. The Times has published comics for longer and more continuously than all but one other U.S. newspaper. Thank you!
