Personal solution

I was hoping for a reduction of the “up close and personals,” but Mary McNamara’s article “Bring on the Bathos” [Aug. 8] destroyed all hope. She did a wonderful job of explaining why this segment of Olympics coverage was necessary. Thankfully, a remote control and a VCR allow all of us sufferers to zap through all the meaningless trivia.
