Hair May Link Student to Vandalism of SUVs
A graduate student with alleged ties to radical environmentalists has been linked to a hair discovered at an auto dealership where authorities believe he vandalized sport utility vehicles.
Forensics experts matched hair and saliva samples taken from 24-year-old Billy Cottrell to a hair found on a headband at the dealership, federal prosecutors said Saturday. Cottrell was indicted in March in connection with vandalism, which damaged or destroyed about 125 vehicles last August at dealerships and homes in the San Gabriel Valley.
