Man Pleads No Contest to Manslaughter Charge
A man accused of driving over and killing another man at a Canoga Park recycling center pleaded no contest Thursday to vehicular manslaughter, according to the district attorney’s office.
Anthony Gary Rivota, 42, faces a maximum of six years in state prison. His sentencing is scheduled for Jan 3.
Sheng Zhang was killed Sept. 4 at the Green Earth Recycling Center on DeSoto Avenue. He and his wife were waiting for the center to open when Rivota snatched their bag of cans and drove off. Zhang grabbed onto the vehicle’s side-view mirror and was run over.
