Terrell Owens has plenty of time to rest for the playoffs.

Dorsey Levens’ two-yard touchdown run with 1:57 left helped the Philadelphia Eagles overcome an ankle injury to their star wide receiver and clinch home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs with a 12-7 victory Sunday over the Dallas Cowboys.

Owens didn’t return after spraining his right ankle early in the third quarter. X-rays on the ankle were negative, but he will have an MRI today. Philadelphia plays its first playoff game on Jan. 15 or 16, giving Owens almost a month to heal.

“The positive is it wasn’t broken, but the negative is it did swell up,” said Eagle Coach Andy Reid, adding that he expects Owens to miss at least one game.

The Eagles (13-1) set a franchise record for regular-season victories. They have finished first in the conference three straight years, but have not been able to take advantage of playing at home in the last two NFC championship games, losing to Tampa Bay and Carolina. The Eagles also lost in the NFC title game in 2002, in St. Louis.

Donovan McNabb threw for 223 yards and one score. Brian Westbrook caught eight passes for 78 yards. Dallas’ Vinny Testaverde was intercepted twice, including a pick by Lito Sheppard on the Cowboys’ final drive. Keyshawn Johnson had a touchdown catch for Dallas (5-9).

After Dallas’ Billy Cundiff missed a 46-yard field goal with 6:03 left, the Eagles got the ball at their 36. McNabb completed a 13-yard pass to L.J. Smith and ran for 12 and 19 yards.

From the Cowboy 19, McNabb threw 11 yards to Westbrook. Levens then ran six yards, setting up the go-ahead score.
