Man Is Killed by Falling Tree
A Running Springs father of two died Tuesday when he was struck by a bark-beetle-infested, 100-foot tree being cut down by a worker in the San Bernardino Mountains, according to authorities.
Greg Alan Russ, 36, was in the cab of a truck assigned to Highway 173 between Grass Valley and North Bay roads to clear debris from the tree-cutting operation, being done by Alpha Tree Service.
The accident is under investigation by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
