Pregnant Woman May Lose Fetus After Assault
A 25-year-old pregnant woman was in serious condition Saturday after a man allegedly choked her and kicked her in the stomach, according to police.
“The fetus may not survive the attack,” said Sgt. Steve Dixon of the San Jose Police Department.
Clifford Beene Watkins, 44, is being held in Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of domestic violence and assault with a deadly weapon. Police were called to a San Jose motel at 12:15 a.m. after the victim told a desk clerk she had been assaulted during an argument with Watkins.
