Man Arrested After Accident Kills Girl
A Santa Ana man was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and felony hit-and-run driving Sunday after his van broadsided another vehicle, killing a 15-year-old girl.
Francisco Hernandez, 26, was eastbound in his Chevrolet Astro on Washington Avenue approaching Bristol Street in Santa Ana when he violated signs prohibiting through traffic and hit a Chevrolet Avalanche about 4 a.m. Sunday, Police Sgt. Mark Strohman said.
The Avalanche rolled over, ejecting Sara Morchy of Lake Forest.
Hernandez fled, but was followed by a witness and a passenger from Morchy’s car. Police arrested him a short distance away.
The accident remains under investigation.
