2 Women Killed in 3-Car Crash
Two people died Tuesday when a man driving a stolen SUV ran a red light and crashed into two cars in Sun Valley, police said.
The 4:30 p.m. accident at Telfair Avenue and Sheldon Street occurred moments after the SUV driver had been confronted by undercover police officers in a nearby parking lot after they found that the vehicle had been reported stolen.
The driver sped away and struck a Mercedes Benz and a Honda, then overturned, said LAPD Officer Jason Lee. Two women in the Honda died. The SUV driver was listed in critical condition at Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills. The accident was under investigation, but officials said it had not been the result of a pursuit. Names of the victims were not released.
