Share

Jockey Pat Day, the third winningest rider in history behind Laffit Pincay Jr. and the late Bill Shoemaker, will ride for the first time in a couple of months today at Gulfstream Park.

Day, who was recuperating after having rotator cuff surgery, was named on horses in four races.

One of his mounts is With Anticipation, who is among seven entrants in the eighth, a $46,000 allowance at one mile on the turf.

A winner of 215 races in 2003, Day also is named on two horses -- first-time starters Shining Victory and Phil’s Pill -- in the second, favored Perfect Story in the third and two more -- Ahuriri Hikawai and Bijou -- in the fifth.

Trained by Jonathan Sheppard for the Augustin Stable, With Anticipation is a 9-year-old gelded son of Relaunch who has won 15 of 47 and earned more than $2.65 million. A winner of three Grade I stakes in 2002, With Anticipation made only three starts last year and could finish no better than fifth.
