Police believe the man who robbed and killed a Brink’s guard in a Riverside supermarket last month committed a similar crime in Dallas in December, officials said Thursday.

Using surveillance videotape from the Texas robbery, Riverside police now have clear pictures of the man they suspect killed Corey Medlock, 28, of San Bernardino as he made a Jan. 8 money delivery.

“The Riverside robber has a very similar physical description, said Police Sgt. Steve Johnson. “Even the way he runs through the store is similar to what happened in Riverside.”

In the Dallas video, a white man wearing a hat and shoulder-length wig hid a can of Mace and a handgun in his blazer before confronting an armed guard. He pointed the gun at the guard, sprayed him with Mace and ran out a door with a money bag.

In the Riverside robbery, the suspect also wore a wig and hat. He entered the crowded Food-4-Less in the 4200 block of Van Buren Boulevard midmorning and shot Medlock from behind before running out a rear door with the money. Medlock died the following day.

Brink’s has offered a $100,000 reward for information leading to conviction of the killer. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (909) 320-8000.
