Andre Barrett wouldn’t let Seton Hall lose to No. 4 Pittsburgh on Monday night.

The senior point guard had 20 points, including the winning free throw with 9.6 seconds left in the second overtime, six assists and no turnovers in 49 minutes in the Pirates’ 68-67 victory.

Barrett had five of the seven points that Seton Hall, 16-5 overall and 6-3 in the Big East, scored in the second overtime as the Pirates won their fifth of six and improved to 11-1 at home.

“I knew he had pushed me. I thought they were going to let it go, but they called it and I was able to go to the free-throw line,” Barrett said of the foul charged to Pittsburgh point guard Carl Krauser.

“After I missed the first one, there was no way in the world I was missing two. This game wasn’t going to go into another overtime. It’s over with if I have a chance to make a shot to win the game.”

The Panthers (22-2, 8-2) had won four straight games and four of their last five against Seton Hall.

“These guys don’t like losing in practice,” first-year Pittsburgh Coach Jamie Dixon said.

“Responding to a loss is part of being a good team. I’m sure our guys are anxious to get out there and play.”

Notre Dame 80, No. 5 Connecticut 74 -- Chris Thomas scored 22 of his season-high 31 points in the second half and Chris Quinn added 16 points for the Irish at South Bend, Ind.

Thomas was seven-for-13 shooting in the second half to pace the Irish (11-9, 5-5 Big East), who slowed down the Huskies (19-4, 7-2).

It was Notre Dame’s first win against a ranked team in six tries this season.

Emeka Okafor led Connecticut with 24 points and added nine rebounds. Ben Gordon scored 22 for the Huskies. Notre Dame held the Huskies to five fastbreak points in the game, none in the second half. The Irish turned the ball over only four times -- all in the first.

No. 10 Oklahoma State 80, No. 12 Kansas 60 -- John Lucas scored 21 points and Tony Allen added 17 at Stillwater, Okla., as the Cowboys handed the Jayhawks their worst loss in three years.

The Cowboys (18-2, 8-1 Big 12) won their eighth straight game to move a half-game ahead of No. 11 Texas for the conference lead.

The rout of two-time defending Big 12 champ Kansas (15-5, 7-2) was a huge step for a school seeking its first league title since winning the Big Eight in 1995.

Utah 70, Nevada Las Vegas 56 -- Nick Jacobson scored 16 points and Andrew Bogut and Tim Drisdom each added 14 at Salt Lake City as the Utes remained unbeaten at home.

Bogut added 13 rebounds, marking his 11th double-double of the season, to help the Utes (18-5, 6-2 Mountain West Conference) outrebound the Rebels, 46-21, and set a new season-low in points for UNLV (12-8, 3-5).

Acting Coach Kerry Rupp won his third consecutive game since Utah Coach Rick Majerus left the team last week to care for his heart condition.
