Woman Strikes Plea Deal in Kidnapping

A South Los Angeles woman pleaded no contest Wednesday to a charge of kidnapping a 4-year-old girl from Echo Park in August 2002, the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office said.
Under the plea deal, Patricia Cornejo is expected to be sentenced to five years’ probation for taking Jessica Cortez and keeping her for two days. Cornejo is expected to be placed in a live-in psychiatric treatment program for at least six months.
