Long Beach police were searching Friday night for a gunman who shot and killed another man during an argument in the victim’s apartment, authorities said.
The suspect, Jaques Fearence, 23, of Long Beach, was described as armed and extremely dangerous. Police said he is believed to be under the influence of “large amounts of an unknown narcotic” and “severely unstable.”
The shooting occurred at about 7:10 a.m. in the 2000 block of Martin Luther King Avenue. Fearence allegedly pulled a gun during the argument and shot the victim at least once. That man has not been identified.
Fearence was last seen running west across Martin Luther King Avenue.
“Basically, we got a guy who’s high on dope, armed and running around out there,” said Long Beach Police Sgt. Paul LeBaron.
Fearence was described as 6-feet-1 and 180 pounds.
Anyone with information is urged to call police at (562) 570-7244 or (562) 435-6711.
