The No. 9-ranked Texas Tech women’s basketball team recorded its first regular-season victory over a top-ranked team, beating No. 1 Texas, 62-49, in a Big 12 Conference game Sunday at Lubbock, Texas.

But Texas Coach Jody Conradt didn’t want one loss or a drop in the poll to unravel the Longhorn season.

“We’re not going to talk about it and belabor it in negative ways,” said Conradt, whose team led by five at halftime but succumbed to a pesky Texas Tech defense in the second half. “We have a really tough stretch ahead, and we just have to regroup.”

The Longhorns, 23-3 overall and 11-2 in the Big 12, play host to No. 19 Baylor on Wednesday and No. 8 Kansas State on Sunday and then travel to take on No. 24 Oklahoma on March 2.

The Red Raiders (23-4, 9-4), who lost, 82-73, to Texas on Feb. 1, relied on a familiar game plan on Sunday: Stop the Longhorns’ inside game.

Texas Tech last beat a top-ranked team in 1993, when it defeated Vanderbilt, 60-46, in the semifinals of the NCAA tournament.

No. 3 Tennessee 85, Mississippi 69 -- Shyra Ely and Shanna Zolman each scored 21 points at Oxford, Miss., to help the Lady Vols (23-2, 12-0) beat the Rebels (15-11, 6-6) and remain undefeated in the Southeastern Conference and on the road (12-0).

No. 8 Kansas State 93, Missouri 90 -- Kendra Wecker scored nine of her 26 points in the second overtime at Columbia, Mo., to help the Wildcats (21-3, 12-1 Big 12) overcome a 15-point second-half deficit and defeat the Tigers (13-11, 4-9), who got a career-high 40 points from Evan Unrau.

No. 11 Minnesota 73, Northwestern 46 -- The Golden Gophers (20-5, 9-5 Big Ten), playing at Minneapolis for the first time since losing leading scorer Lindsay Whalen to a broken hand on Feb. 12, beat the last-place Wildcats (8-18, 1-14).

No. 17 Texas Christian 73, No. 12 DePaul 53 -- The Horned Frogs (22-4, 11-2), who trailed for most of the first half at Fort Worth, eliminated the Blue Demons (22-4, 10-3) from contention for the Conference USA regular-season title.

Vanderbilt 68, No. 14 Auburn 60 -- Abi Ramsey scored 13 of her 22 points in the second half to help the Commodores (18-7, 6-6 SEC) rally from an early 10-point deficit to upset the Tigers (20-6, 8-4) at Auburn, Ala.
