A half-brother to last year’s Santa Anita Derby winner will make his debut in today’s fifth race at Santa Anita.

Och Tamale, a 3-year-old gelded son of Caller I.D., is out of the For Really mare Really Rising, making him a half-brother to Buddy Gil, who won the Baldwin Stakes and San Felipe before his victory by a head over Indian Express in the Derby.

Owned by Billingsley Creek Ranch and Desperado Stable and trained by Jeff Mullins, who also trains Buddy Gil, Och Tamale is 6-1 on Jeff Tufts’ morning line in the $47,000 maiden affair at about 6 1/2 furlongs on the turf. Victor Espinoza will ride.
